If Blood Services is NYBC's heart, Lindsley F. Kimball Research Institute (LFKRI) is the brain. Our research branch has pushed the organization to new heights in knowledge about and discoveries related to blood and blood-related diseases. There is promising on-going research, investigation, and information sharing related to blood that spans chemistry, biology, molecular studies, genetics, virology, immunology and epidemiology. Approximately 100 researchers supporting these programs have important and fascinating stories to share.

With many health-related issues tied so closely to blood, Lindsley F. Kimball Research Institute, led by Mohandas Narla, DSc, continues to be at the forefront of some of the most important research taking place in the world.

 Available Technologies
The Office of Patents and Licensing was developed to encourage the corporate sector to facilitate the support of the basic research done at NYBC's Lindsley F. Kimball Research Institute (LFKRI) and convert the results into new products and processes that ultimately contribute to public benefit.

 Research Administration
The Office of Research Administration is responsible for award sponsored programs at New York Blood Center, NYBC's Exchange Visitor Program and also houses and provides support for NYBC's research compliance committees.
